The Ross-Pike Educational Service District is pleased to provide numerous professional development opportunities for the 2019-2020 school year. Descriptions of these topics are listed below or you can click on the link at the bottom to view a copy of all professional development offered this school year from August to June.
HANDLE WITH CARE INITIAL AND RE-CERTIFICATION
Handle with Care is an approved method of restraint used in the state of Ohio. The ESD offers multiple opportunities for people to obtain re-certification if they have been trained within the last year or initial certification for new people. Re-certification is offered in a half day session while the initial training is two days.
SPECIAL EDUCATION TRAINING
Ross-Pike ESD will be offering Special Education Discpline Training for administrators as well as an IEP training for special education teachers. ANALYSIS OF STATE AND LOCAL ASSESSMENT ITEMS
Using released test items and teacher created assessments, Ross-Pike ESD consultants will work with grade level teachers on how the performance level descriptors released by the Ohio Department of Education align with their own assessments.
The Ross-Pike ESD coordinates quarterly principal meetings organized by elementary and secondary level. These meetings give principals an opportunity to network with each other and receive up-to-date information from the state through ESD and SST consultants.
SCHOOL COUNSELOR MEETINGS
The Ross-Pike ESD coordinates quarterly school counselor meetings. These meetings give counselors an opportunity to network with each other and receive up-to-date infromation from ESD consultants and local guest speakers.
The Ross-Pike ESD is pleased to present numerous offerings under the category of Social-Emotional Learning. ESD consultants will be providing training in Emotional Poverty based on Ruby Payne's work as well as Trauma Informed Care training based on the work of Akron Children's Hospital. ESD consultants are available to train and provide support in PBIS. The ESD will also offer the popular Cost of Poverty Simulation. Any of these sessions can also be delivered on a district level so please contact Tom Kitchen if you have an interest in having a training delivered within your district.
