On Tuesday, March 5th, the Junior High LEAD students visited the Scioto County Sheriff's office as a learning experience relating to a unit of study on Forensics and mystery writing. During the visit, investigators and Portsmouth Police Department detectives assisted groups of students in rotating through four stations. Students were shown how to process blood samples and how to lift prints off hard surfaces. They also "fingerprinted" each other with the old inking system and were shown the newest tool in lie detection; a computer-based vocal-frequency system.
This photo shows Camri Leeth, Piketon 8th grader, learning how detectives process "blood" samples.
