Pike County LEAD 4th Graders Participate In National Event

Today is the fifth annual 4-H/National Youth Science Day (NYSD-October 10,

2012) and millions of young people across the nation will become

scientists for the day. Our own Pike County LEAD 4th graders are

participating in this national rallying event for year-round 4-H Science

programming, bringing together youth, volunteers and educators from the

colleges and universities to simultaneously complete the National Science

Experiment.

In this year's experiment, the Eco-Bot Challenge, LEAD students enhanced

their engineering skills by learning to think like a robotics engineer,

assembling their own robots, known as Eco-bots, and control surfaces in

order to manage an environmental clean-up.  The Pike program serves gifted

students in grades 3-8 from Eastern, Scioto Valley, and Western Local

Schools.
