PD for New Content Standards
ODE Targeted PD Round 2 for;
Mathematics, ELA, Social Studies, and Science
The content for this Targeted Professional Development Round 2 was designed by ODE for ELA, Math, Science , and Social Studies Teachers.  ODE scheduled these training sessions at regional locations.  ESC staff members have been trained to provide the same training for our Ross-Pike teachers in grades 3 through 12.
 
The Targeted Math training will be offered on Monday, March 19, 2012 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in Room A of the Ross ESC office complex.   Please select the Math PD link on the right side of this page to register.

The Targeted Social Studies training will be offered on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 in Room C of the Ross ESC office complex.  Please select the Social Studies PD link on the right side of this page to register.

The Targeted ELA training will be offered on Monday, April 2, 2012 in Room B of the Ross ESC office complex.  Please select the ELA PD link on the right side of this page to register.

The Targeted Science training will be offered on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in Room D of the Ross ESC office complex.  Please selct the Science PD link on the right side of this page to register.  
PD for High School Content Standards
The Ross-Pike ESD has scheduled professional development for high school teachers in Ross and Pike County, around the New Common Core Standards in Language Arts and Mathematics as well as the New Revised Standards for Science and Social Studies. These sessions will encourage teachers to examine the the standards at a deeper level.  The sessions will also include the opportunity for discussion related to future curriculum planning. 

It is suggested districts send all of the high school teachers in each core subject or a group of teachers that could go back to the district and facilitate similar training with the remaining staff members.

The location will be the Ross-Pike ESD in Chillicothe from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.

Below is a list of dates for each core subject;
Language Arts - April 16, 2012
Science - April 23, 2012
Social Studies - May 3, 2012
Math - May 9, 2012

Content will include familiarity with the Standards documents, the model curriculum, and support materials to initiate the transition to the new standards.
Second Grade Standards Training

The Ross-Pike ESD has scheduled three days of professional development for Grades 2 around the new Language Arts and Math Common Core Standards and the new Ohio Science and Social Studies Revised Standards. It is suggested that districts send all teachers in each grade level or a core group that can then go back and facilitate similar work with the remaining grade level teachers in the district.

The location will be Ross-Pike ESD in Chillicothe from 9 a.m. until 2:30 each day.

Dates for Second Grade teachers: Febraury 23, Mar. 1, and Mar. 12th

 

Content for Day 1: Familiarity with LA & M standards, resource documents from ODE and other sources; Crosswalk and comparative analysis documents to compare current standards and new standards; Identifying changes; and connecting to Model Curriculums.
