Job Posting May 25, 2018: Preschool Special Education Expert/Early Learning School Readiness Consultant
Region 15 State Support Team is recruiting for a full time SST Consultant to work in our family friendly office in Piketon, Ohio. Our Team provides professional development, coaching, technical assistance, and information dissemination for school districts and parents in Lawrence, Pike, Scioto, and Ross Counties. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills and must be outcome-oriented. The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail is essential. You will be fully engaged and busy from the first day.

Responsibilities: As a member of the Region 15 SST, the Consultant will implement the full scope of Preschool Special Education Expert/Early Learning School Readiness work associated with the 2018-19 State Support Team ODE Grant Agreement, adhering to ODE processes and tools, Ross Pike ESD policies and procedures and Region 15 practices.
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the provision of preschool special education/early learning school readiness professional development, technical assistance and coaching for school district personnel, other early childhood community providers and parents with the goal of building the capacity of local and related education agencies and their educators to engage in systemic and sustainable improvement that impacts outcomes for all students, especially those ages three to grade three.
SST Consultants are expected to remain current with research and evidence based practice and to participate in ongoing professional growth activities.
Qualifications: A Master’s Degree or higher in special education or in one of the following areas with a focus, concentration, or licensure in special education or a related service area (i.e., speech language pathology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, school psychology): early childhood education; elementary education; child development; family studies; curriculum and instruction; education administration/leadership; psychology; assessment and evaluation; and
At least three years of relevant experience including all of the following: at least one year of experience providing support and/or services to those who work with preschool age children with disabilities working in one of the following capacities: administrator/supervisor; professional development provider, technical assistance provider or teacher mentor and at least two years of experience working with preschool age children in one of the following capacities: intervention specialist, classroom teacher, related services provider or school psychologist and contributing as a member of an evaluation team for preschool special education eligibility with responsibility for writing evaluator reports; and developing and implementing IEP’s and monitoring student progress.
An ODE issued license in a relevant field. Administrative experience preferred.
In addition expertise and significant leadership experience in several of the following preferred: Ohio Improvement Process; Positive Behavior Intervention Support; Universal Design for Learning; family and community engagement; implementation and monitoring of improvement efforts; data analysis; culturally responsive practices; multi tiered systems of support; professional development, technical assistance and coaching; evidence based practices; knowledge of IDEA and ESEA.
Salary and Benefits: commensurate with training and experience.
Number of day contract: 202 days between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019.
